About Becky Wright…
When I was 11, my grandparents got me my first camera. It was a point and shoot camera with film, and I loved taking pictures of our cats as well as the trees and flowers of our quiet neighborhood. Eventually, I learned that this camera would not do what I wanted it to and expanded to my first SLR camera when I was in high school. Over the years, my passion for photography has been a consistent part of my life.
In the early 2000s, I got a new computer and became curious about a program that was preinstalled… Windows Movie Maker. This basic movie-making program introduced me to videography along with my first digital camera. While my early movies were meant to be fun for friends, the reasons for making videos became more purposeful. I eventually branched out into more sophisticated software, cameras, and video cameras. I started to use these skills for my work along the way and had a couple of mentors that really helped me hone in on my skills and produce professional videos.
After growing up in the Chambersburg area of south central PA, I moved as a young adult to York and then to Lancaster. For 13 years, I was an occupational therapy assistant but felt that I wanted to expand my horizons, see the world, and learn about new cultures. I spent time living in France and West Africa before coming back to the United States to live in Richmond, VA for three years. In 2020, I relocated back to Chambersburg, and I am settling back into the area that I’ve always considered to be my hometown.
While I was gaining skills in videography, I also started to help out with some web design and web management. I found that I enjoy building websites, especially using Squarespace, and taking training courses to further these skills.
Of course, everywhere I lived gave me opportunities to take photos. After years of keeping my photos on my hard drive, I decided to sell my work. I joined an artist co-op called the Foundry Art Market in downtown Chambersburg, PA. Click on the Foundry’s logo below to see their website and check out some of my photography.
In August 2022, I opened up Wright Style Media with a desire to help small businesses grow in south central Pennsylvania. Life in both France and West Africa showed me how vital small businesses are to a local economy. My heart’s desire is to see locally-owned shops and small businesses maintain an online presence to compete in today’s market.
